Too Much Stimulus

So...Meg and Tim came home last night to spend some one-on-one time with Olivia and to give Sophie a rest. The nurses told them that they think the reason she keeps clenching up, contributing to chest pressure, is because they are stimulating her too much. So no more touching for a while (unless the nurses are already bugging her). My parents were there last night and said that they couldn't believe the amount of mucus they were sucking out of her lungs. Meg got back today and said the cup was double what it was when they left. I guess they put the tube right down to the end of her esophagus and as it fills up, she gags, it sucks, and she's good again for a while. They have taken her off of all Meds (morphine, sedative, etc). So she can wake up when she wants...though she still mostly just sleeps because her poor little body is so tuckered out. She is also starting to breath on her own a little and so they were able to turn the oxygen down too. Oli is currently playing at the hospital and does not want to leave the playroom. Thanks for your prayers. Love you all.

Oh, and if you are looking for a new place to live...move to my ward! My visiting teachers brought me dinner last night. Ha ha. I told them they were crazy. I'm not the one having a crisis. But they insisted I was overly stressed and didn't need to worry about dinner. My neighbor also brought me a bag of chocolate kisses. Such sweetness all around down here in our island paradise.

Grateful that Sophie is doing better. Is there a mother-in-law apartment close by???

Sounds like things are slowly improving. I love your visiting teachers--that (and the hokey-pokry) are what it's all about. :)
