Off to Camp!

I am off to Girls Camp! Thanks a million to Nancy (Grandma-who-does-it-all is her Indian name, I believe) for watching my three precious children. I hope they are good to you as I know you will be good to them. Take special care of my baby, I can't think about her or I cry... Wish me luck people, or pray for me, or something. I have an abnormal fear of tics so please pray that I don't get one especially! Love you all!

I Wish....

Today I was madly cleaning my kitchen because it was so insanely dirty. I have been gone the last couple of nights and Jason doesn't do damage control very well, and honestly, I really haven't felt like cleaning lately. Anyway, while I was cleaning I was wishing...

I wish that my walls would stay clean and that my floor would stay clean and that people would only magically appear at my door after I had just cleaned my house and not when I had been avoiding it. I wish that my kitchen wasn't 50 years old with holes in the linoleum. I wish that I had energy all of the time and I didn't have to fight myself on a regular basis. I wish that I was an excellent runner, like Jason, and that it didn't hurt all of the time. I wish that Nikell would stay healthy for more than a few weeks at a time, and I wish that she would gain weight. She is going to miss the chubby baby stage altogether. I wish that I never yelled. I wish that I had the motivation and the foresight to teach my kids all the things that I pray that they knew or will someday know. I wish I had the energy to be happy all of the time. I wish that I knew why I am angry on the days that I can't seem to chase the anger away. I wish I had the money to make my home a better place. I wish I had food storage. I wish that I never had to worry about money and when it gets to be the end of the month and my baby is sick (again) I didn't have to wonder where I was going to "borrow" the money to buy whatever I am supposed to buy this time to make her better. I wish I was the kind of friend that everyone wanted to be with. I wish I knew how to help people better. I wish I could hold Nikell forever and ever because she loves you back so perfectly. I wish I could run a marathon tomorrow and be done with it. I wish I could see people and life the way God sees it so that I wouldn't be so stupidly stupid. I wish I wasn't afraid and that I knew how to let things be. I wish I had balance in life; sweet peace in knowing that my priorities are right and that I spend just the right amount of time pleasing Sierra and Mialee and Nikell and Jason and church leaders and family and work and me. I wish that I could sleep all the way through the night, all of the time. I wish I was a morning person. I wish I didn't love sugar so much and that health food actually appealed to me. I wish, I wish, I wish...

The Sweet Joy of Success

I wish that all of my failed attempts were as rewarding as the success of Olivia upon getting her swimsuit on, "I DID IT!"

On Father's Day

Meeting Jason (again) was kind of like coming home. All the pieces fell together so well and so quickly. I remember one of the first rendezvous (you couldn't call it a date) we had. He kept saying my name. It's funny when people say my name because it's unusual and it sounds unusual when they say it, like they are unsure. But he was so sure and it gave me chills every time he said it. Then when we started seeing each other more purposefully he was always giving me little spontaneous compliments. Like we would be talking and I would smile at something he said and he would say, "Oh, I love that. I love your smile." After our first "real" date I rushed home to change (we both had other dates to go to that night), and then couldn't get him out of my mind. In fact, I remember that my heart ached and I was physically sick because I wanted to be with him. I was so scared and so sure that he was the one I was going to marry. He was everything that I had ever made a list about (you've all done it). It's funny trying to get along with someone all of the time. But honestly, Jason is probably one of the easiest people in the whole world to get along with. He has mellowed me a lot and I fear that I have un-mellowed him a little. I love everything about him. I love how his brain is always going. I love that he has remodeled our house 87 times in his head. I love his laugh. I love that life is fun for him. I love that he is always making goals. I love that he always puts his shoes away. I hate mating his socks, but I love that he has a logical method (it makes me laugh). I love that he can remember what he did on August 15 2007, but he can't remember that we have already seen a particular movie. I love knowing that given any disaster I have access to the one person that will be able to save us all. I love that he is ticklish. I love that I get to be the one that he comes home to. I really really really love the feel of his arms around me--it's the safest place in the world. I love that we get to be together forever and ever and ever. I hope other people are as happy as I am. I have a hard time believing that they could be because I have so much. But maybe...

Building the Magnificent Play Area and Free Fishing Day!

A long long long time ago our neighbors offered us their old, but amazingly cool, home built play area complete with play houses, slide, climbing wall, rope swing, swing set, etc. Of course I wanted it! Who wouldn't? Maybe the poor soul that had to spend 7 hours disassembling it? And so it went that we had a very large pile of wood sitting in our back yard that could possibly be something amazing someday. Someday finally came when Grandpa McKellar had pity on me and agreed to come help rebuild the pile of really cool wood. AND while Grandpa and Jason hammered and lifted and did all those manly building things, the rest of us (including Grandma and Shannon and boys) went to Free Fishing Day! Here, at Free Fishing Day, we beheld the wonders of the insect world, became "leave no trace" campers, were educated on the varieties of trout (right Grandma and Shannon?), and got free t-shirts to boot! Oh, and Grandma and Mialee caught some moss.

Friendship Day

We had a friendship day and invited all of our friends to come and share something of their choice to show each other how much we love having good friends! Each child told why they love their friends (mostly because friends make you happy and they are fun to play with...) and then shared something. They were adorable! Alek (the one with the songbook) shared a song and then gave out pixi-sticks for everyone to lead with. Sierra gave out pictures to be colored and Mialee made up a song on the paino and made no-bake cookies. We also had Jell-O jigglers, bubbles, rice krispies, a game of Simon Says, and pretzels (which are special because Allie bought them :)).

Brooke's Baptism

So...Jason had a Scout over-nighter on Friday. He was under strict orders to be home by 10:30 am so that we could make it to Meridian (Boise) by 4:00 pm for Brooke's Baptism (my brother Matt's daughter). He got home just in the nick of time (thank you Jason!) and we made it to the Baptism with 2 minutes to spare. The kids loved Matt's waterfall and he had an awesome tire swing. One minute I look up and Grandpa is swinging Mialee, Amber, and Ben. The next minute they are on the ground, still in the tire, and Grandpa is looking around a little panicky-like. The swing broke--mid-air. No one was hurt (thankfully) and Matt and his friend even fixed it so the kids could still swing (especially Mialee, she was so sad and sat in the broken swing with a downcast look for quite a while).

The only downfall to the trip was that Alex turned into a fairy.
